نویسندگان
چکیده
Shot noise of series quantum point contacts forming a sequence of cavities in a two dimensional electron gas are studied theoretically and experimentally. Noise in such a structure originates from local scattering at the point contacts as well as from chaotic motion of the electrons in the cavities. The observed shot noise allows to distinguish between noise of the point contacts and noise from the cavities in reasonable agreement with theoretical predicitons.

We argue, physically and formally, that existing diffusive models of noise do not yield a faithful microscopic description of nonequilibrum current fluctuations. The theoretical deficit becomes more evident in quantum-confined metallic systems, such as the two-dimensional electron gas. In such systems we propose a specific experimental test of mesoscopic validity for diffusive theory’s central ...
متن کاملShot noise by quantum scattering in chaotic cavities.
We have experimentally studied shot noise of chaotic cavities defined by two quantum point contacts in series. The cavity noise is determined as (1/4)2e/I/ in agreement with theory and can be well distinguished from other contributions to noise generated at the contacts. Subsequently, we have found that cavity noise decreases if one of the contacts is further opened and reaches nearly zero for ...

Multi-spins tunneling cross-relaxations in an ensemble of weakly-coupled Ho 3+ ions, mediated by weak anisotropic dipolar interactions, can be ev-idenced by ac-susceptibility measurements in a high temperature regime. Based on a four-body representation, including the rare-earth nuclear spin, two-ions tunneling mechanisms can be attributed to both dipolar-biased tun-neling and co-tunneling proc...

We review the twistor approach to the Zhang-Hu theory of the four-dimensional Quantum Hall effect. We point out the key role played by the group Spin(4, 4), as the symmetry group of the boundary. It is argued that this group, which ignores the √ −1 used in relativity and quantum mechanics, is the focal point of a primordial theory, one where the Cartan concept of triality is paramount, from whi...
